Lead:​ Kevin Barlow, a police officer for 11 years in Huntsville, Alabama, died at the age of 34 in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019. WC:​ 26 words

Paragraph 2:​ Kevin Barlow, a lover of motorcycles, was riding with friends on Nov. 23 when he was hit by a drunk driver, who ran through a stop sign at the intersection of Cortez Ave. and Alton Rd. in Huntsville, Alabama. Barlow, a member of the department’s Emergency Response Team and a Training Field Officer, was named the police department’s “Officer of the Year” 3 years ago, 2nd runner-up for Alabama’s “Officer of the Year,” and received the police department’s “Medal of Valor” for saving a woman and her four children from a burning house, while receiving 2nd and 3rd degree burns.

Paragraph 3:​ “He saw his job as a way of helping the community - putting the bad guys away, keeping the streets safe for children, mothers, and the good guys,” Dorothy, his sister, said. He served for 3 years in the marines and later joined the police department, where he has been for 11 years. He was survived by his parents, Stephen and Harriot Barlow, and his three older sisters, Molly Palomino, Jennifer Haself, and Dorothy Moravchek; his service, officiated by fellow members of the Resurrection Life Center, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
