Renee Steelman, who has worked at Shoe Sensation since July 2010, worked her last day as the store manager of Shoe Sensation on Saturday, July 31st.
Before working at Shoe Sensation, Steelman worked at Hyperion Seating in Lewisburg, Tennessee. After leaving Hyperion Seating, Steelman became the Assistant Store Manager (ASM) at Shoe Sensation in July 2010 and stayed in that position for two years before being promoted to the store manager position. For twelve years, Steelman remained in her position as the store manager of Shoe Sensation, located at 1216 Huntsville Hwy, before she decided to pursue a position elsewhere.
Steelman said, “I decided to leave my position at Shoe Sensation because I did not like all of the standing I had to do and because of how corporate treated their loyal employees. After running the store for so long, it felt like it was my store and I am sad to be leaving it, but the Lord opened another door for me at Dixie Smith Insurance Agency, where I will be off of my feet and have better hours. I will also miss seeing my team and my customers everyday.”
Shoe Sensation also lost several employees who followed their manager’s lead in leaving their positions at the store. Sara Beth Lewter, the ASM since May 2021, worked her last day on Monday, August 2nd. Abriana Lewis (a Backup Assistant Manager since May of 2020), Kendal Crabtree (a Backup Assistant Manager since May 2021), and Skyler Ridner (a part-timer since June 2021) all worked their last day on Tuesday, August 3rd. With five employees leaving days apart from each other, Shoe Sensation was left with one employee, Kattie Dulaney (a part timer), and had to bring in employed from other locations to run the store in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
Steelman also said, “A lot of my customers felt like my family and they were one of my favorite things about my job! I would like to thank them for staying local, for always coming back to see me, for being more than just a customer, and for being my friend. The only advice i have to pass on to everyone is to just put Jesus first in everything, shop local, stay in your community, have patience, and smile at crazy.”
