Dear Mr. Levi Harvey,
I am writing to you on behalf of the nonprofit organization, the Imagination Library. I very strongly believe that a story should be covered on the Imagination Library, partnered with the Dollywood Foundation and the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation, actively works with the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Public Library to host fundraisers to raise money and buy books for those in those in the area who cannot afford them. The library must hold multiple fundraisers every year to have enough money to buy books for children in Lincoln County. The mission of the Imagination Library is to foster a love of reading in preschool children and ensure that every child born has books, regardless of their family’s income. The Imagination Library works to promote lifelong literacy by providing one free book per month to over 1,000 children in Lincoln County under the age of 5. To be more specific, the Imagination Library covers 1,374 children in Lincoln County and 281,965 children in Tennessee. The Imagination Library is in it’s 14th year of spreading the love of reading in Lincoln County. Recently, the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Public Library and the Imagination Library paired up to hold a launch a campaign called “Invest in Our Children.” This campaign is asking for donations to help ensure that children across the county can continue to benefit from the program. The Imagination has a problem with convincing people that, despite being partnered with her, Dolly Parton does not buy the books for Lincoln County. The local libraries, with the help of Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation, must raise all of the money for the books, and for the large number of children that the Imagination Library in Lincoln County reaches, it must raise over $20,000 each year. This campaign is an opportunity for the community to help fund the program that allows every child to have books in their home. Since the start of the program in April of 2005, the Imagination Library has mailed 200,000 books to children in Lincoln County. With the help and support of the community and the “Invest in Our Children” campaign, the Imagination Library could continue to reach the children of Lincoln County. Therefore, I strongly urge you to cover a story over the Imagination Library, so that the children of Lincoln County can continue to receive their books, no matter what their family’s income is.
Sincerely, Sara Beth Lewter
