
Dr. Alanna Frost received a B. Ed. in English and Geography from the University of Victoria in 1994, a TESOL Certificate from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2000, an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2000, and a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Louisville in 2008. Dr. Frost taught at Calhoun Community College from the fall of 2000 to the spring of 2004. She then taught at the University of Louisville from August of 2004 to August of 2008. She has been teaching at UAH since August of 2008. In 2014, Dr. Frost was awarded Tenure and was promoted to Associate Professor at the UAH. She is also currently the Chair of the English Department at UAH.
At UAH, Dr. Frost has taught several English classes, both graduate and undergraduate, which include the following: EH 100 (Intensive Writing), EH 101 (First Year Composition), EH 260 (Intro to Writing Major), EH 400 (Composition Studies for Teachers), EH 404 (Literary Research Methods), EH 435 (Native Women’s Literature), EH 500 (Composition Studies for Teachers), EH 504 (Literary Research Methods), EH 535 (Native Women’s Literature), and EH 601 (Composition Pedagogy).
Dr. Frost’s academic interests include literacy studies, cultural rhetorics, and composition theory and pedagogy. Dr. Frost is professionally affiliated with the Modern Language Association (MLA), the Writing Program Administrators (WPA), the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC). Dr. Frost has been a volunteer for the Digital Archive of Literacy Narratives since 2009. She has also been an Editorial Associate for Literacy in Composition Studies since 2012.
